🎃 CANDYMAIL HALLOWEEN DATA STORY · 2026

THE HALLOWEEN CANDY
BRITAIN THINKS IT WANTS

Candy Corn still haunts the search bar. Sour sweets are having a monster year. Pumpkin spice has escaped the coffee shop. And what Britain Googles isn't always what shoppers actually buy.

Halloween candy used to be simple.

Candy Corn. Chocolate pumpkins. A giant bowl by the front door.

Not anymore.

Britain's appetite for American Halloween food is getting weirder, sourer and much more theatrical.

We compared UK search behaviour with Candymail shopping trends and our current Halloween range to see what's really happening inside Britain's spooky-season sweet tooth.

🎃 49,500 UK searches for Candy Corn during its October peak
🦇 ~10× year-on-year growth for one sour Halloween favourite at Candymail
👾 +311% year-on-year growth for a Halloween PEZ line

Candymail sales comparisons cover 1 September–9 October 2026 against the same period in 2025. Commercial volumes and revenue are not published.

01

🎃 Candy Corn still
haunts the search bar.

Nothing says American Halloween quite like three tiny bands of yellow, orange and white.

Whatever you think of the taste, Candy Corn remains one of the clearest examples of a sweet whose cultural fame becomes enormous for a few weeks every year.

UK search interest surges in October, reaching around 49,500 searches during its seasonal peak.

SPOOKY STAT Candy Corn may be the visual mascot of American Halloween — but it isn't the whole story anymore.

Candymail's own year-on-year purchasing data suggests demand is becoming more fragmented. Traditional Halloween favourites still matter, but some of the fastest-moving trends are happening elsewhere.

02

😖 Sour is having
a monster year.

Here's where things get interesting.

One Halloween sour line at Candymail is selling at roughly 10 times its level during the same period last year.

That's not happening in isolation.

The current Halloween shelf is packed with products built around sourness and intensity — from Sour Patch Kids Monster Parts and Tricksters to Sour Punch Bats & Pumpkins and other face-scrunching limited editions.

OLD-SCHOOL HALLOWEEN Chocolate + Candy Corn
2026 ENERGY Sour + weird + intense

That fits a wider confectionery trend. Industry analysis in 2026 has highlighted extreme sour, spicy and unusual flavour experiences as part of the way sweets and snacks are being made more entertaining.

💀 We don't just want candy.
We want stuff.

One of the clearest shifts is that Halloween sweets increasingly double as entertainment.

Collectable dispensers. Character tins. Movie tie-ins. Halloween-only wrappers. Products designed to look good on TikTok before anyone has even opened them.

HALLOWEEN PEZ +311%

year on year for one comparable Candymail seasonal line.

That matters because the product isn't competing solely on flavour.

A Jack Skellington PEZ dispenser or spooky candy tin sits somewhere between snack, novelty and cheap collectable.

Confectionery manufacturers are leaning into exactly this behaviour: limited-edition packaging, collaborations and collectability are increasingly being used to turn seasonal sweets into events.

🔪 Horror has invaded
the sweet aisle.

Halloween food increasingly looks like entertainment merchandise.

Ghostface Fanta. Chucky tins. Nightmare Before Christmas PEZ. Harry Potter sweets. Character-shaped products.

It's a particularly neat formula:

FAMILIAR BRAND + HORROR ICON + LIMITED AVAILABILITY = I NEED IT.

This isn't just happening at import specialists.

Mars unveiled more than 120 Halloween products for 2026, while Hershey described this year's launch as its biggest-ever Halloween range.

05

☕ Pumpkin spice has
escaped the latte.

Once upon a time, pumpkin spice mostly meant ordering a seasonal coffee and pretending autumn weather was charming.

Now it turns up everywhere.

☕ COFFEE CREAMER 🥨 PRETZELS 🍫 CHOCOLATE 🥧 POP-TARTS 🍿 SNACKS 🍬 CARAMELS

Candymail's seasonal range has included pumpkin and autumnal flavours across Pop-Tarts, M&M's, Coffee Mate, Werther's and other American brands.

And one particularly telling example: M&M's Pumpkin Pie is up around 230% year on year in our comparable early-Halloween sales window.

The flavour has become shorthand for autumn itself.

🕸️ THIS IS BIGGER THAN CANDYMAIL

Halloween doesn't wait for October anymore.

American confectionery brands have increasingly started treating Halloween as a season rather than a single date.

ConfectioneryNews dubbed the trend "Summerween", as Halloween products began arriving during the summer.

And according to the US National Retail Federation's 2026 survey, 49% of Halloween shoppers began buying in September or earlier.

The NRF expects US Halloween spending to reach $13.5 billion in 2026, with 74% of consumers planning to celebrate.

🎃 THE CANDYMAIL VERDICT

Britain Googles the classics.
But shops for something weirder.

Candy Corn still owns the image of American Halloween. Chocolate isn't going anywhere.

But the momentum underneath the surface is coming from sour flavours, collectables, horror collaborations, strange limited editions and seasonal twists on brands people already know.

In other words, Halloween candy isn't just getting sweeter.

It's getting more fun.

🧪 How we worked this out

Search data: UK search behaviour is drawn from Google Keyword Planner and Candymail Google Search Console data available during the 2026 Halloween period.

Candymail shopping data: product-level sales were compared across 1 September–9 October 2026 and the equivalent 1 September–9 October 2025 period.

We deliberately publish relative changes, rankings and trends rather than Candymail revenue or raw commercial sales volumes.

External context: industry observations are supported by 2026 reporting from ConfectioneryNews and consumer research from the US National Retail Federation.

Stock shown in the product section is generated directly from Candymail's current Shopify Halloween collection and may change as products sell out or new lines arrive.
