EU Delivery Update

Important EU Delivery Update From 1st July

We want to make shopping with Candymail as simple, clear and stress-free as possible for our EU customers.

From 1st July, there are new EU import-related charges affecting parcels entering the European Union from outside the EU. These changes can include VAT, duty and customs-related handling charges depending on the order value, destination country and courier process.

Rather than leaving customers to deal with unexpected charges when the parcel arrives, we have updated our EU checkout to make things clearer and easier.

What has changed?

To help avoid extra charges after checkout, we now include a VAT and duty contribution within the EU shipping charge at checkout.

This means the shipping price shown at checkout is not just the cost of postage. It also includes a contribution towards the VAT, duty and import processing costs linked to sending your order from the UK into the EU.

Our goal is simple:

No surprise customs bills. No unexpected courier fees. A smoother delivery experience for EU customers.

Why are we doing this?

Since the UK is outside the European Union, orders sent from Candymail to EU countries are treated as international imports.

This means EU parcels may be subject to local VAT, customs duty and carrier handling charges. These charges can sometimes be requested from the customer before delivery, which can be frustrating and confusing.

We do not want our customers to place an order and then be surprised by extra fees later.

By building a VAT and duty contribution into the shipping charge at checkout, we are trying to make the total cost clearer upfront and reduce the chance of any extra payment being requested when your order arrives.

What does this mean for EU customers?

When you place an EU order with Candymail:

  • The checkout shipping charge now includes a contribution towards VAT and duty-related import costs.

  • This is designed to help avoid unexpected charges when your parcel reaches your country.

  • You can continue ordering your favourite American candy, Japanese snacks, imported drinks and rare sweets from Candymail with more confidence.

  • We will continue shipping EU orders using tracked international delivery services.

Will I have to pay anything extra when my parcel arrives?

Our EU shipping charge has been updated to help prevent this.

The aim is that customers should not receive unexpected VAT, duty or customs handling requests after ordering.

Very occasionally, customs processes can vary by country or parcel, but we have made this change to give EU customers a clearer and smoother delivery experience wherever possible.

Why has EU shipping become more expensive?

EU shipping now has to cover more than just the physical delivery cost.

It may also need to account for:

  • VAT contribution

  • Duty contribution

  • Customs processing

  • International handling

  • Tracked parcel delivery from the UK to the EU

We know nobody likes higher shipping prices, but we believe this is better than offering a cheaper shipping price at checkout and then leaving customers with unexpected charges later.

Which countries does this affect?

This update applies to EU countries we ship to, including destinations such as:

  • France

  • Germany

  • Netherlands

  • Ireland

  • Belgium

  • Spain

  • Italy

  • Portugal

  • Sweden

  • Austria

  • Denmark

  • Finland

  • and other eligible EU destinations

Shipping options and prices may vary depending on your country and order size.

Can I still order from Candymail if I live in the EU?

Yes. EU customers can still order from Candymail.

We continue to offer a huge range of imported sweets, snacks, drinks, cereals, chocolate, mystery boxes and limited-edition products from the USA, Japan, Canada, Australia, Europe and beyond.

The main difference is that the shipping charge shown at checkout now includes a VAT and duty contribution to help make the delivery process clearer and reduce the risk of extra charges later.

Our promise to EU customers

We know international delivery can feel complicated, especially when rules change.

That is why we are working to make EU ordering as clear and simple as possible.

Instead of leaving VAT and duty as a surprise after checkout, we are building a contribution into the shipping charge so you have a better idea of the total cost before you complete your order.

Thank you for continuing to support Candymail.

We are proud to ship rare, fun and hard-to-find sweets, snacks and drinks from around the world to our EU customers.
