Important EU Delivery Update
We want to make shopping with Candymail as simple and transparent as possible for our EU customers.
When goods are sent from the UK to countries within the European Union, parcels may be subject to local import VAT, customs duties, handling fees and other import-related charges.
To help reduce the impact of these costs, our EU shipping prices now include a VAT and duty contribution.
What does the VAT & duty contribution mean?
For eligible EU orders, part of the shipping charge you pay at checkout is a contribution towards the VAT, duty and import-related costs associated with sending your order from the UK into the EU.
This contribution is designed to help reduce the overall cost of importing your parcel.
It does not mean that all VAT, customs duties, handling fees or other local import charges have been prepaid or fully covered.
Depending on your destination country, order value and the way your parcel is processed by customs or the local delivery provider, you may still be asked to pay additional charges before or upon delivery.
Why do you include a contribution?
Since the UK is outside the European Union, orders sent from Candymail to EU countries are international imports.
Depending on the destination and shipment, this can result in charges including:
-
Import VAT
-
Customs duty
-
Customs processing charges
-
Courier or postal handling fees
-
Other locally applied import charges
We include a VAT and duty contribution within our EU shipping charge to help offset these costs and make international ordering more manageable for our customers.
Will I have to pay anything extra when my parcel arrives?
Possibly.
Our VAT and duty contribution is intended to help reduce import-related costs, but it is not a guarantee that there will be no additional charges when your parcel reaches your country.
Customs authorities, postal operators and couriers may apply their own charges, and these are outside Candymail's control.
If additional VAT, customs duty, handling fees or other local charges are applied to your parcel, these remain the responsibility of the recipient.
🇮🇪 Customers in Ireland
Customers ordering to Ireland should be particularly aware that local customs charges, import VAT, handling fees or small parcel charges may apply on delivery.
Our VAT and duty contribution does not guarantee that these charges will be fully covered.
Why has EU shipping become more expensive?
International shipping from the UK to the EU can involve considerably more than the physical cost of transporting your parcel.
Our EU shipping charge may account for:
-
VAT contribution
-
Duty contribution
-
Customs and international processing
-
International handling
-
Tracked delivery from the UK to your destination
The contribution is intended to help offset some of the additional costs associated with importing your order.
Which countries does this affect?
This applies to eligible EU destinations that we currently ship to, including countries such as:
-
France
-
Germany
-
Netherlands
-
Ireland
-
Belgium
-
Spain
-
Italy
-
Portugal
-
Sweden
-
Austria
-

and other eligible EU destinations.
Available shipping methods and prices vary depending on your destination and the size and weight of your order.
Can I still order from Candymail if I live in the EU?
Absolutely.
We continue to ship our range of American candy, Japanese snacks, imported drinks, chocolate, cereals, mystery boxes and limited-edition products to customers across the EU.
Your available delivery options and shipping price will be displayed at checkout.
Important information before ordering
Please remember that the VAT & duty contribution included at checkout is a contribution only.
It should not be interpreted as confirmation that all taxes, duties or fees associated with importing your parcel have been prepaid.
Additional local customs charges, import VAT, handling fees or other charges may still be payable by the recipient.
We recommend checking the import rules and charges applicable in your country before placing an international order.
Thank you for continuing to support Candymail and allowing us to bring rare and hard-to-find treats from around the world to customers across Europe.
